APW - Illinois, Sangamo Special, marked 60 Hour, 23J, 17S, gold-filled OF original Sangamo Special model rigid bow case with attractive striped engraving to rear around an upper shield area which has an ornate gold cross applied to its rear, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel arbor, broad transverse band pattern nickel damascene, s#4758350. An excellent example of this top grade railroad watch, the total production of the marked 60 Hour Sangamo Special was 2200 made 2200 made per Mike Chamelin's "Sangamo special - Beginning to End" book.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces, few typical mild fine to micro-fine scratches; nearly flawless dial with very small edge flake under bezel at setting lever, pinpoint as-made dark spot near edge at 3; excellent hour and minute hands, fine seconds-hand with oxide and finish loss; case shows very little wear, no dents or dings, excellent engraving detail; rigid bow with excellent engraving detail and few small slivers of wear to brass at portions of its edges, crown shows very little wear; good glass crystal.
